Samantha has knowledge and skills across many mediums and has a fantastic ability to create new clothing from scratch (having created the Stitch-O-Mat capsule wardrobe); and the ability to help others create patterns to fit their style and purpose. Samantha is a prominent community event organiser in Christchurch giving support and love to her local community and beyond. Sam also uses her creative skills for her business One More Piece of Cake. You can find her on Instagram and Facebook for all your fau taxidermy and crocheted treasures. |
Mel Edgar - Facilitator
Coming from a family of makers, I learned to knit, crochet, embroider and sew as a child. As an adult, I realised the ethical impact of fast fashion and decided to move away from it by making my entire wardrobe, including socks and underwear. This also allowed me to choose sustainable fabrics and materials making for a gentler impact on the planet. |
Kate Pearson - Facilitator
From a long line of artists, and creatives, Kate has spent her life surrounded by all different art forms. Be it in Film, in her work as a midwife, or in motherhood, Kate has always found space to use her creative side for both personal balance and creative outlet. An ingrained belief in giving anything a go was passed down to her from her now 100 year old Grandmother, a fine china painter in Melbourne. Kate resides here in Christchurch with her Husband Duncan and their 3 children; Eva, Otis and Llewyn. Kate and Duncan also run a small business called *Useful Wooden Toys, giving used skateboards a new life by creating children's' toys and home wares. |
